"In life there are those who
make excuses and those who
get it done....you only live once
Get it done."
- Karif Byrd
Karif Byrd practices what he preaches– he “gets it done.”
Karif Byrd is no stranger to success. As a 2000 University of Georgia Bulldog graduate, he raised the athletic bar in football, track and field. A three time All-SEC Track and Field awardee, Byrd was part of a distance medley team that smashed a 20 year school record. As a wide receiver for the Bulldogs high profile football team, Byrd laid the framework and foundation that allowed him to professionally compete in today’s highly competitive market. He mastered both the theory and the practical application of competitive sports. These skills would be a vital part of his career in coaching, training and conditioning. Following his stellar college career, Byrd joined the Assindia Cardinals, Germany’s professional European Football League team and then later became a member of the Central Valley Coyotes and the Augusta Spartans—both United States Arena I and II professional football teams. Byrd gained more gridiron yardage when he participated in the Buffalo Bills and Baltimore Ravens mini football camps.
As one of Southern California’s top trainers, he helped shape the careers of NFL players such as Tony Gilbert of the Atlanta Falcons, Arizona Cardinals and Carolina Jaguars; Carlos Rodgers of the 49ers; Mathew Slater of the New England Patriots as well as provided a stable guide post by training USC quarterback, Matt Barkley. He has garnered both respect and admiration among high school and prep programs as the Director of Training, Costa Mesa Pop Warner; strength and conditioning coach, Newport Harbor High School; conditioning trainer, Corona Del Mar High School and wide receiver coach for Lakewood High School. In 2007, Byrd formed Get It Done Sports Training as a way to transfer his on field experience to youthful athletes, schools, institutions and athletic programs. “It is important to help others unwrap their potential and create an environment that will help them exceed their goals,” says Byrd.
Most recently, Byrd served as a trainer for the highly respected, Rep1 Sports Agency. In addition to his sports conditioning and training camps, Byrd supports workshops, leadership seminars and camps through his non-profit programs throughout Southern California. “I am never far from remembering the impact that sports, health and leadership have in developing both the mind and body, he notes. “To reach the top, we must...GET IT DONE.”
